Don't Stand Up

Don't Stand Up is a metaphor of Maria's life in the shape of a stand-up comedy show that goes completely wrong.

Maria is a Portuguese humidity officer at Humido Regulado. She decided she needed to engage more with the English community and Stand-up seemed like a perfect start.

This is her first time on a stage. She has her notes, her water, her stool. She is ready.

This absurd comedy weaves physical theatre and object manipulation with experimental sound design, where everything on stage is alive, reactive, and largely uncooperative.

Don't Stand Up is sixty minutes of chaos, laughter, and one woman who refuses to leave the stage. Whether the audience does the same is entirely up to them.
